The Department of the Surveyor General (DSG) is a land administration authority, which
services the community,
the government, and businesses. The Department operates under the Ministry of Lands,
Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Settlement. The Office of the Surveyor General is a
statutory entity whose existence
is a resultant of the Land Survey Act (20:12) and has authority on surveying and cadastre
(tenure and land property boundaries). The Department is mandated to preside over
the survey of all state land, perform examinations, approve all cadastral surveys and
provide custodianship of all records related to such surveys. In other words, the DSG’s
responsibility is to carry out land administration, advisory, technical and regulatory
functions connected to land, space surveys, mapping, storage and provision of
geo-information.
The Department is spearheading the Electronic Cadastre (eCadastre)
project in an effort to modernize the land administration system, in support of the
Presidential title deeds and settlement regularization program.
Our solutions and provisions are designed to achieve e-governance objectives, promoting transparency and ensuring efficient service delivery to all stakeholders.
